Chaplains Message
By Monsignor Danaher

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

“For over fifty six years, my eyes have gazed everyday on the Host and the Chalice” Pope John Paul II Wrote a short time before his death. What a wonderful leader we have had for the past twenty-six years. He was the third longest reigning Pope in the History of our One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church’s Peter was the longest and Pius IX was the second longest reigning Pope. How can I be like him? Be faithful and bring along as many as you can, just like he did.

Peace and Love,
Msgr. Mortimer Danaher

Knight of the Month
April 2005

If you have been on this Knight’s e-mail list this past year, you have received numerous announcements about K of C events.  He’s a steady usher at his parish and always active at our Council meetings.  This Knight is experienced in State and Council procedures and has been recognized in his council, around the district and on the state level as an exemplary Catholic gentleman, as well as, a family man. At times he’s helped with maintenance on the Council hall.  He’s guided and supported me in several council matters over this past year.  It’s a privilege for me to present to you PGK Gino Rocca as the Knight of the Month of April.

Family of the Month
April 2005

I have known this couple for many years, but had lost contact with them when I moved to Houston, Texas, in 1981.  They were a wonderful example of what marriage is all about, raising a large family, involved in Church and school, and that something that glows about a couple sharing Sacramental spousal love.  And because of this love, they have been sharing their family life with other married couples through Marriage Encounters for many years.  It’s an honor for me to choose John and Tina Morrissey as Family of the Month of April.

K'CEE'S KORNER
by Laura Morris
President

Dear Ladies,
Habemos Papam!!!

It was sad to lose our beloved Pope John Paul 2nd. The entire world gave that Holy man the respect that he earned as the Vicar of Christ. And now we have Pope Benedict XVI. We must pray that he is a wise and caring Shepherd to his flock.

I want to thank all our ladies and the Knights for their help with the yard sale on April 16th . It was a fun day and we managed to make some money too.

K-Cee kudos to Darlene and Louie O’Neal for getting 20 new chairs for the hall and delivering! We appreciate your prompt response to our request. Thank you.

Our last K-Cee meeting for the spring will be May 10th  at 8:00 p.m. I’ll take care of providing an ice cream social for all. This will be my last meeting as your President and I want to express my deep gratitude for all the support I received for the last two years. It has been a wonderful experience.
Love and Prayers,
Laura

RIGHT TO LIFE

The following article by Keith Peters appeared in the April issue of the
Christian Action News.

IS THERE REALLY A PRO-ABORTION CLERGY?
A pro-abortion group has produced a theology course for pro-abortion clergy. A distinctly pro-abortion course on reproductive issues debuts at the Chicago Theological seminary, but many pro-life groups think it's neither scriptural nor theological. The
curriculum, called "Theology & Reproductive Choice," will focus on feminist theological perspectives, pastoral care, and philosophy & ethics. It’s part of an effort, according to the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), to prepare the next generation of pro-abortion clergy. Parker Williamson of the Presbyterian Lay Committee called it
nothing more than "an apologetic for abortion. “Calling it a theology is really a misnomer," Williamson said. “There’s no 'theos' or God in it. God, for the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, is nothing more than the imperial self. It’s all about me. It’s all about my choice."Dr. Randall O'Bannon of the National Right to Life Committee said there is no truly objective material in the course."I don't really see anything here that talks about the sanctity of life or of fetal development," he noted."I don't see anything here that talks about our obligations to love our neighbor."
Too often the phase "reproductive choice" is merely a euphemism for people not being responsible for their choices."It's a code word for the fact that one can simply create a human life & then, for whatever reason one feels is relevant, can decide to destroy that human life, O'Bannon said.Neither the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice nor Chicago Theological Seminary returned calls for comment. (What's wrong with this picture? Are they being influenced by the evil spirit, rather than the Holy Spirit?)

Garage Sale

The K of C & Kcee’s combined garage sale was a success, could have used a little more help men. Thanks to those who came and helped   Note items listed on the inventory for sale, we would like to reduce this if we can, less to pack and store. Call if you see something you like. This was a great fundraiser, and there is more to be made. A big thanks goes out to Russ Strauss and his company.

ACA News

ACA Director meeting was held and all finances are in order. Through efforts of Mike Yarborough we were able to purchase a large screen TV, Mitts. 55”, from Sound Advice.

Gino Rocca is looking into the cost for Dish / Satellite hook up. If monthly cost is not to high then the ACA directors felt we could add it in our operating cost. We need to schedule a good yard clean up within the next month Larry can’t do it all. This is not just an ACA function we should all be involved.

MEMBERSHIP BLITZ

Thank you  PGK Jim Bonnie and his committee for conducting a Membership Blitz at Resurrection church, Sunday, April 10.  Thank you

to all the Knights who participated in cooking and serving the pancake

breakfast after the 8:30 A.M. Corporate Communion Mass on the same Sunday morning.

John Porter was busy selling raffle and Benefit Ball tickets there, also.

CHRIST THE KING CORPORATE COMMUNION

Please meet for communion as a group at Christ the King, 7:00A.M. Mass on Sunday, May 22, 2005. Breakfast will be served afterwards at the Hall, by

Tom Guggisberg and company.

Food for thought

We are looking into setting up a directory accessed via our web site listing those members with businesses and who would like a chance to provide services to our members.  Like some feedback. The site could display your business card or other ad info. See Ralph Mosley. The cost could help offset our

bulletin cost.
