Grand Knight’s Report
By George Coseo

Brothers,

Sadly, March saw the passing of two more brothers of our Council. Mr. Anthony Trotti, a relatively new member who joined our ranks in June 1999 and a long time member of the order Sir Knight Earl Edmund Reall who completed 62 years of membership on March 1st of this year. Please remember these brothers in your prayers.

I would like to share an article with you entitled "Answer to Prayers". The author is unknown but I think it says quite a lot.

"We ask for strength and God gives us difficulties which make us strong.

We pray for wisdom and God sends us problems, the solution of which develops wisdom.

We plead for prosperity and God gives us brain and brawn to work.

We plead for courage and God gives us dangers to overcome.

We ask for favors-God gives us opportunities.  This is the answer".

Remember, God speaks to our hearts and whispers to our souls. Too often in our busy, hectic lives we do not take time to listen, and He has to throw a brick at us to get our attention. It's really up to us. Listen to the whispers...or wait for the brick.

A Blessed and Happy Easter to All.

George

Chaplains Message
by Monsignor Danaher

Dear Brothers and Sisters Greetings with love!:

St. Paul tells us that our hope, our faith, and our love depend on the empty tomb. On Holy Thursday Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist. The Holy Eucharist is to out Church what our hearts are to our bodies. Without the Holy Eucharist our church would fall apart. At the Last Supper Jesus told his Apostles “Do this in memory of me” That is when he ordained the first priests. On the Next day good Friday from the Alter of the cross” Father forgive them they know not what they do” What an example for all of us. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb. Easter Sunday morning the Empty tomb… Jesus was raised form the dead. What a Victory for all of us… His disciples who quietly take up our crosses daily and follow our Savior

Love, Peace & prayers,

Msgr. Mortimer Danaher

Right to Life
by Jim Middleton

Could we do without these states?

Louisiana Missouri Arkansas Oklahoma Kansas Nebraska Iowa Minnesota Montana Wyoming North Dakota Idaho Utah Colorado

New Mexico South Dakota Arizona

The population of these 17 states is equal to the 42,000,000+ reported "legal" surgical abortions since 1973. Perhaps this perspective helps one to grasp the number of people that are gone, dead--robbed of their God given and Constitutional rights to life and liberty.

Each time a person is aborted and robbed of their rights, our rights and very lives become less secure. How many more innocent people will have to suffer horrible painful deaths before the nation accepts the truth that with abortion, we are destroying our country and our future.

Dues have been coming in at a good pace. However we will be mailing out the second dues notices on or about February the 1st.  Our annual dues support the council and allow us to do the many works of charity we do on a regular basis. One of our finest charities is the support we send our seminarians monthly. Our support of seminarians was recognized in a Papal Blessing received from Pope John Paul II. It is on display in our new hall.

Regarding the payment of dues, The Knights of Columbus is first and foremost a charitable organization.  We realize that there may be good reasons why you are unable to pay your dues at this time. In cases such as this, our Grand Knight is able to waive the payment of dues. Just give him a call. G.K. George Coseo may be reached at 724-9585. Our charity begins at home.

Thanks for your attention and cooperation,

Don

Knights of Columbus Has Record Year In Insurance, Annuity Sales In 2002

New Haven - The Knights of Columbus posted record gains in several areas of its insurance business in 2002. The Knights ended the year with $45.6 billion of insurance in force on its members and their families. The 2001 figure was $42.9. There are currently 1.5 million life certificates in force, up from 1.4 million at year-end 2001.

"Knights of Columbus insurance program continues to grow and prosper," said Carl A. Anderson, supreme knight of the 1.6 million member Catholic fraternal benefit society. "We have long felt that our products and our fraternal agency system are among the industry's leaders, and these year-end records confirm that." The Knights of Columbus is rated AAA (Extremely Strong) by Standard and Poor's and A++ (Superior) by the A.M. Best Co.

The sale of insurance has been a part of the Knights of Columbus program since its founding in New Haven, Conn., in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, a 29-year-old Catholic priest. With more than 1.6 million members throughout North America and elsewhere, the Knights is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization. In 2001 members reported raising and contributing to charity a record $125 million and volunteering a record 58.9 million hours of service.

For all your insurance needs call our sales representative and brother Knight Jim Bonitatibus,

ACA News April
by Ralph Moseley, ACA President

The Quarterly meeting was held following the First meeting in March. Troupe Turner, treasurer, presented the ACA's treasurers report. The Council is in good financial shape, all bills are paid and we see no need to rent the hall for income now or in the future. This does not provide the Council with funds for their charitable giving; this must come from Council functions. The ACA's commitment should be to provision the Hall to allow for these endeavors.

We would like to schedule the next workday for April 26th starting at 10am - 4pm. With nice weather, we can clean up the yard. Please bring saws, rakes, and weed eaters also, power saws to cut wood (2x4's and old desk outside). In addition, the storage area can use some organization, shelves and desks; can we sell or give them to someone? We need to move them out for the K’Cees garage sale. The ACA will provide lunch and drinks.

NAME THE KNIGHT

Perhaps you've seen the Knight in armor that is on guard in the foyer of the KC hall? He came to us unannounced so we do not know his name. And he isn't saying. So we are having a "Name the Knight" contest.

The winner will receive an appropriate award. So put on your thinking caps and come up with a worthy name for this Worthy Knight.

Some suggestions so far:

Sir Lance-a-little, Sir Gallon-head, Sir Wally Wallmover, Sir Arling-tin.

Submit name nominations to Jim Middleton or Ralph Mosley. (In writing please, - the memory is not good enough to remember verbal. requests Be sure to include your name.) Family members may also participate. No deadline has been established yet.

Footsteps for Heartbeats

First Coast Women's Services, which established Florida's First Coast Memorial for the Unborn, is sponsoring a walkathon to benefit this memorial. This event is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, at the Bolles School. The Knights of Columbus played a prominent role in the dedication of this memorial. Volunteer walkers and pledgers are needed to help make this event successful. Those interested in forming a council team please contact Mike Yarborough at 724-8983.
