Grand Knight’s Report
By George Coseo

Brothers,

Here we are in September already.  In a few short weeks summer will leave us and fall will take over.  Never seems like time gives us a chance to accomplish everything we expect to do.  Summer vacations are over for most of us and the children are back to school.  By the way always drive carefully and especially so around schools and playgrounds where our children are.

Mike Yarborough, our Program Director, and his committee chairman are in the process of planning a number of council activities.  Watch for details in the monthly newsletters.

Our next fundraiser will be the golf tournament scheduled for Oct. 20, 2001 at Deerfield Lakes Golf Club.  Jim Bonnie and Mike Yarborough are co-chairmen for the event. Let's all get behind them and make this the best golf tournament we have ever hosted.

The response to the 4727 "Super 100" program to aid the "Guardian of Dreams", outlined in the August newsletter, has been very encouraging.  This is truly a worthy charitable endeavor for the council to undertake.  If you haven't already committed to participate please consider doing so.  At $20.00 per year this is and inexpensive way to help further a Catholic Education for    worthy children unable to afford the tuition costs.  "AND WHOSO SHALL RECEIVE ONE SUCH CHILD IN MY NAME         RECEIVETH ME". - Matthew 18:5

I am hoping that now that summer is behind us attendance at the council meetings will improve.  Remember the Chinese Proverb Brothers:  "A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step".  See you at a meeting?

 Peace,

 George

Chaplains Message
by  Monsignor Danaher

Brothers and Sisters:

Greetings with Love!

We begin the month with a day off from labor. That is good for the mind, body, and Soul. We need time away from work to help us keep focused on our real work the salvation of our Souls. On Thursday September 27 we celebrate the feast of St.Vincent de Paul. What a holy man. His work was the Education of the clergy and helping the poor and the abandoned. He died in 1660 right after the Protestant reformation; his life was a guiding light for the thousands of people in his own time. We continue his work today with our St.Vincent de Paul Societies. Jesus told us “As long as you do it for one of those the least of my brothers and sisters you do it for me.

 Love and Peace,

Msgr. Mortimer Danaher

INSURANCE AGENT’S MESSAGE

by Jim “Bonnie” Bonitatibus

WHY BUY LIFE INSURANCE

Why should you buy life insurance anyway? If your wife does become a widow, funds are created automatically…immediately…and at the least possible cost…. only life insurance will provide a steady income…a guaranteed amount month after month…. with a check coming in monthly, she can budget accordingly…. life insurance gives her a precious freedom of choice. *She can work if she wants to…as a hobby…not as a necessity. *She can live with her grown children if she pleases…as a welcome visitor. *She can call on charitable agencies if she likes-to offer help…not to ask for help.

Life insurance is nothing less than an expression of your respect, your concern and your love of your wife and your family. Call me today for an appointment.

KIDS - Ya Got To Luv Um

The boss of a big company needed to call one of his employees about an urgent problem with one of the main computers.  He dialed the employees home phone number and was greeted with a child's whispered, "hello?"

Feeling put out at the inconvenience of having to talk to a youngster the boss asked, "Is your Daddy home?"  "Yes", whispered the small voice. "May I talk with him?" the man asked.  To his surprise the small voice whispered, "No."

Wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is your Mommy there?"  "Yes", came the answer. "May I talk with her?"  Again the small voice whispered, "no".

Knowing that it was not likely that a young child would be left home alone, the boss decided he would just leave a message with the person who should be there watching over the child.  "Is there anyone there besides you?" the boss asked the child.

"Yes" whispered the child, "A policeman".  Wondering what a cop would be doing at the employee's home the boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?" "No, he's busy", whispered the child. "Busy doing what?" asked the boss. "Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman", came the whispered answer.

Growing concerned and even worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter through the earpiece on the phone the boss asked, "What is that noise?"

"A hello-copper", answered the whispering voice.  "What is going on there?" asked the boss, now alarmed.  In an awed whispering voice the child answered, "The search team just landed the hello-copper"

Alarmed, concerned and more than just a little frustrated the boss asked, "Why are they there?"  Still whispering, the young voice replied along with a muffled giggle:

'THEY'RE LOOKING FOR ME"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COMMANDER

Our own John Fitzgerald celebrated his 89th birthday this Month. You are an inspiration to us young-uns. When we grow                                                up we want to be just like you - our hero.

God Bless and many More.

REQUESTS FOR COUNCIL EXPENDITURES

Effectively immediately, any request for a council expenditure exceeding $200.00, for any purpose, must be submitted in writing to the council officers for consideration at the regularly scheduled officers meeting before presenting the request to the general membership at a council meeting.  The officers meet on the Monday immediately preceding the first council business meeting of the month.

Our general funds are presently limited and this procedure is necessary to ensure that we have sufficient funds to meet our monthly commitments and not overspend our resources.

Failure to comply with this procedure can result in the request not being presented on the floor at the regular meeting.

ACA News

In September we may see activity regarding our Hartsfield location. At this time we understand our request for an exception will be placed back on the planning boards agenda. No date as yet, we will depend on this information being reported back to our Attorney, Paul Harden.

The committee has not shut the door on other properties. Many of you have offered suggestions for additional property; try to get as much information as you can, location, price and the real estate company representing the site. Please try to provide this information in writing rather then verbally at a meeting.
